Freemasonry in Ukrainian History

Interesting article today about Freemasonry's history in Ukraine.

See Masonic Project Ukraine here.

It wasn't all that long ago (2004) that there was a movement in Ukraine to pass mandatory jail sentences against Masons found in the government. Fortunately, such laws were never enacted.

According to the Conference of Grand Masters of North America's Commission on Information for Recognition's 2006 report, the Grand Lodge of Ukraine was consecrated on September 24, 2005 by the Grande Loge Nationale Francaise and the Grand Lodge of Austria.

  1. Good post about my late grandfather's homeland, although translating Ukrainian into English can be difficult at times. But I do question some of the historical logic, especially as regards the Amerigo Vespucci claim on 'America', which puts into question many of the other historical conveniences relating Ukrainian history to Freemasonry. Then again, much of Ukrainian history and geneology remains a mystery due to the unabashed ransacking by the Soviet regime-- beginning with the great famine (Holodomor). Although independent since 1991, Moscow's influence over the divided nation of Ukraine continues. Keep your eye on Vlad (Ras)Putin.
